About

Back in high school when Project Runway was big and I was applying to colleges, thinking I’d go to RISD or Purdue’s fashion merchandising program, I was told that despite my obsession, fashion didn’t have to be my career, it could just be a hobby.

I went on to study business, which anyone in that poor Intro to Economics class with me could see, wasn’t going to last long—my teacher wore Tevas and drank Mountain Dew. He didn’t stand a chance.

I quickly switched to film, which I’d dabbled in since iMovie’s ’99 release date, and loved it. While I don’t regret anything I learned, I noticed that while my friends were obsessing over Tarantino’s next move, I was shoe-stalking every website, store and person I came across. Some of my best papers were about film fashion where I Anna Wintour-ed the sh*t out of costume designers.

I realized you do your best work when you’re obsessed.

A few years later, I’ve graduated, moved to New York City and am looking for a new job, now following what I love and not what I think I should love.

Mand Made This is for fashion fiends, job seekers and anyone looking for some mild sarcasm or below amateur modeling. People always ask me for advice so I Mand Made This as an outlet for both you and me. While I may not be on Project Runway or drinking a Mountain Dew any time soon, my past experiences have helped guide me here as I try to pursue life’s next step.

I hope Mand Made This is as fun for you as it is for me. Happy reading!
