Angels are Forever

If you’re going to become an acquaintance of mine, there is really only one thing you should know.

I effing love Victoria’s Secret.

I can’t fully explain why or when this affair started, but I can tell you that I R-E-S-P-E-C-T the brand as I would an established elder or Aretha Franklin song.

Along with the Technicolor underwear, college-girl-loving bathing suits, clothing they size up to make you feel skinnier, secret reward card seasons and the way they almost make me want to buy Uggs, I am infatuated with how they have been able to build the brand into a reputable billion dollar empire—one that I will never deter from. Check my underwear drawer, I’m loyal. Being a VS junkie is a commitment; and in adoring the brand, you must also adore the people.

It’s no secret that I’m obsessed with the Angels (note the capitol A). From veterans like Heidi to It-Girls Karlie and Barbara, I love them all. Even when I hate them, I love them. So it’s no question for me to follow them on all the different forms of social media.

One day my girl Alessandra tweeted a grossly appealing recipe:

I had to try it.

The [unbiased] verdict: it is delicious. It’s satisfying and not in that, “I’m only eating half my salad and saying I’m full because I’m on a first date and trying to be an Angel” kind of way. (We’ve all been there.)

It’s a salty/sweet meal with a great amount of protein and healthy fats to keep you feeling full (my sister told me that). I know what you’re thinking but no, yolk + orange is good. The cottage cheese is also sweet so the orange isn’t the lone ranger.

Not sure if I ended the meal feeling energized because of the protein or because I just copied an Angel, but I leave it for you to try. I will admit that I now eat this frequently and have begun to annoyingly crave it.

What you’ll need:

½ - ¾ cup fat free cottage cheese

1 Clementine or orange (cut into slices)

¼ ripe avocado

1 perfectly poached egg

pepper

The Bobby Flay part:

Put cottage cheese, sliced orange, and cubed avocado into a bowl.

Boil water then bring to a simmer and stir in a hefty capful of white vinegar—eyeball it. Stir the water in a circle with a spoon then crack your egg and add it to the center of the vortex. Let that cook for a few minutes until the yolk is your desired level of raw and carefully spoon it out into your bowl. Garnish with pepper, break the yolk and Instagram it.

When I’m extra hungry, I add another egg or whole wheat tortilla. Also, I’ve replaced the avocado with steamed broccoli or the orange with blueberries and still loved it.

Let me know what you think!
