Recycle, recycle, recycle.
I have a chronic case of FOMO when it comes to flash sales—remember
Gilt? But this time of year, it’s borderline scrooge-like to shop for yourself,
even if it is at 70% off.
Being a post grad girl on a budget can be an emotionally
destructive thing around the holidays. 1. You now have money. 2. You have to be
responsible. For me, being out of college and employed (ps. I got a job) means that
I need to repay the 45+ people who were so patient with me while I limped down
that treacherous path into semi-adulthood.
But with all the holiday events filling up your December
social calendars, and dishing out bank so you can buy your dad that tech gadget
you can’t even spell, it may feel overwhelming figuring out what to wear when
you don’t want to can’t go shopping for yourself. Remember, we are
responsible now.
The solution? Shop your own closet. My God, stop rolling
your eyes.
If back in your irresponsible days, you didn’t pack up your
summer clothes, p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Throw on the leather coat you blew your first
paycheck on over whatever chiffon-y cotton thing you have and you’re good to
go. Winter white is always acceptable and pinks and purples are in, thanks
Pantone Color of the Year, so all those mini dresses and skirts you bought to make
yourself look tan are now relevant again. The tip is to wear your leather as a
blazer, and throw a winter coat on over that.
Layering with turtlenecks is also a thing now, as seen by
everything on the dress section of Zara.com and throwing a sweater over a dress
to make it a skirt hasn’t been over done yet.
I bought this jumpsuit for my June birthday and made it
festive by throwing on the cliché holiday red.
My photog sister said this would have looked bomb with some
red soles so if you’ve got $625 to burn, I’m a size 39.
Happy holidays shopping!
