Floral for spring? Groundbreaking.
(Only a few more weeks left of that passé line before summer.
Don’t worry, I’m sick of it too.)
Springtime in New York is quickly becoming my favorite
season in this city. Anna Wintour may have already called it, but in all
fairness, this is my first time living it—and I’m in love.
Sure, fall has fashion week and ankle boots, but there’s so
much life here in the spring. And I’m
not talking about the new baby pigeons in the park; the city is pulsing again
and feels alive. For too many months, New Yorkers were cooped up in tiny
apartments, forced to wear Uggs, and figure out how many compelling ways there
are to make stew. But now—oh baby! We
are flocking out in numbers. We’ve traded slush and snow boots for sundresses,
jean jackets, and deadly margarita cravings.
And we’re happy. The amount of people I’ve bumped into on my
morning commute has drastically decreased. I still live in a sea of black, but
there are pops of color! And the flowers—there are tulips everywhere. I don’t
know who is behind it, maybe de Blasio, but from Park Ave to the Esplanade,
this concrete jungle is blooming.
Everything I want to do is outside, whether that be taking
the long way home from work, or enjoying cocktail hour on my roof. Anything to
be in the sun (and potentially get tan) I’m down for. (Well not everything—you’ll never catch me on a
bike here.)
I headed back to the Elevated Acre this weekend. Last time I
was there for the April showers, but I came back for the May flowers. Ha—see
what I did there? This is one of my favorite spots to watch the helicopters
land and take off. It may be a bit noisy but it’s so peaceful—like when Noah
told Allie he loved watching the traffic lights change from green, to yellow,
to red. Kind of. Ok maybe not, but spring
is all about love so you have to mention The
Notebook.
Anyways, I matched my dress to the garden in front of me
(not pictured) and threw on these shoes because they are pretty BA. This would
have been a perfect dress for Mother’s Day if I could have gone home. Hope you
all had a wonderful weekend celebrating your moms!
