Quick Color Blocking

Or, more pertinently, quick color while blocking autumn out of my mind.

In New England, just as in Cinderella, when the clock strikes midnight on August 31 everything begins to change.

Fall is upon us; the temperatures are cooling down, it’s windy as F, drugstores have started selling Halloween costumes and just like my Disney counterpart, I’ve begun to shudder at the sight of a pumpkin.

I keep dreaming about the way things were, as in, when things were hot and my worst fear was having to put my hair up in a frizzy top knot without a bobby pin to secure the rat tail of a layer my haircut can’t seem to shake. No, now I’ve had to start worrying about wearing a jacket at night, one that not only needs to complete my outfit but that I can also take off and fathom completing life after losing it. (College prepped me for this.)

Luckily, Mother Nature has given me about two and a half days of summer playing hard to get to fit in some last minute hot flashes and hot shorts.

I wore this outfit for a walk along the Esplanade after meeting my sister for a Mediterranean lunch in Cambridge and took these photos near a man getting arrested for heroin. Oh Cambridge, you never cease to amaze me.

Shirt: Zara. Semi-similar from Mango here and on Shopbop from Madison Marcus here and Rag & Bone here. I’d also pair this outfit with this Glamorous tee available here.

Shorts: Forever 21. Very similar from D&G here. Buttons and all!

Flats: Zara. Similar colored lace details from Marc by Marc Jacobs here.

Bag: Steve Madden. Similar at J. Crew here from The Cambridge Satchel Company.

Sunglasses: Dolce and Gabbana
