It’s technically spring but I still feel inclined to say,
“It’s almost spring!”
The snow has been gone in NYC for a few weeks now but I went
home to Boston last weekend and it still looks like the tundra. This is the
first time I’m really seeing the climate change from my seemingly southern new
state.
Just like the precipitation differences between the two
cities, the weather here is also doing whatever the F it wants. It got up to 68
degrees yesterday and now tomorrow will be in the 40s. What the hell are you
supposed to wear when you were good last weekend and put away the majority of
your winter clothes but all of spring’s pastels and crop tops will look
embarrassingly out of place?
The key is to layer and it’s so easy. The hardest part is getting over the fact that you will
have to hold off showing your toned arms in a tank top just a little bit
longer. (Luckily if you’re like me, you welcome the wait.)
If you were smart (which I hope you were!) you left a few
key warm pieces out from your closet overhaul and can rotate them into your
spring gear. If you procrastinated this seasonal switch-a-roo, I recommend
holding onto a few staples until the end of April:
- Opaque black tights
- One chunky sweater
- A Black turtle neck
- Gloves (for the chilly early a.m. commute)
Layer these items with your spring wardrobe and call it a
day. At least until it’s actually spring and then by all means, stash anything
warm in the deepest corner of your under bed storage and hope for an Indian
summer.
